GDPR part 5 Sandbox fight – who to blame:
As a child you loved to play in the sandbox building castles and making pies. You were happy when your friends came and played with you. You poured water in the moat and everything was great. But then some neighbors started throwing stones and taking sand from your side, bringing it to their side. All of a sudden, everybody were throwing stones back and forward. After a while the parents came and asked you who started it. You began pointing fingers and blaming each other. In the end, no one gets the blame.
As a private customer; in a webshop there are lots of companies behind the service. If there is a data breach somewhere in the chain. Who should you as a private person blame: webshops owner, service provider, hosting partner, newsletter provider. You don’t have a clue.
With the GDPR you don’t need to think about that any more, you can blame or sue the webshop owner. Then it’s up to the webshop owner to find the guilty one. Buts that’s not your problem.
Sandbox fight – who to blame is part 5 of “The storm is coming” GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) explained in different way. GDPR will change how we protect and handle personal data.
